5 Tips for the Best Breakfast in Milwaukee, WI

We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Read these 5 tips to enjoy the best breakfast in Milwaukee. These local locations and treats will help make the most of your Milwaukee mornings to fuel you up before exploring this amazing city.

Click here if you are looking to for a general list of the Must-Eat Foods in Milwaukee. Spoiler alert: it includes a lot of dairy!

  • Try a Traditional Kringle
  • All Day Breakfast

Coffee with a View

If you aren’t a “morning person” a strong cup of coffee is not only a want, but a necessity. Fortunately, there are plenty of local coffee and pastry shops scattered around Milwaukee that will provide a morning boost of fuel for your day of exploring the city. Brady Street is home to several great family-owned coffee shops and is also a great location to explore some smaller boutiques.

A local favorite is Colectivo (formerly Alterra). Drink hand-roasted coffee and then munch on any of their sweet fresh-baked goods. While it is a chain, their standout location is undoubtedly the shop on the lakefront near McKinley Park. Grab a coffee, sit outside on the terrace, and enjoy a relaxing view of Lake Michigan.

Try a Traditional Kringle

Have you ever tried a kringle? It is a circular, flaky pastry typically filled with fruit or nuts and drizzled with icing. The kringle was brought to Wisconsin in the 19th century by Danish immigrants andremains a popular breakfast staple that is best eaten with coffee or tea.

The original (and most famous) spot to purchase a kringle is at Racine Danish Kringles. It is located in Racine, Wisconsin, about a forty minute drive south of Milwaukee. If you don’t have time to venture outside the Milwaukee city limits, most grocery stores carry this brand along with others in their bakery department. Be sure to give this unique pastry a try for a delicious breakfast in Milwaukee!

All Day Breakfast

Everyone loves a good, homestyle diner meal every now and then. Whether you’re craving an omelette, a scramble, pancakes, or just a big cup of Joe there great options for breakfast in Milwaukee. To feast on a hearty American breakfast at any hour of the day or night, you’ll want to check out Ma Fischers.

This unassuming 24/7 diner has been a Milwaukee staple since 1932. The menu is large, the food is delicious, and the staff is kind. Enjoy a no-fuss meal and leave with a satisfied stomach!

Brunch Like the Locals

Weekend brunch in Milwaukee continuously becomes more popular each year, with many restaurants offering a plethora of mid-day specials paired with an upbeat atmosphere. The local favorite is by far Blue’s Egg; I highly recommend making a reservation if you want to avoid a long wait. The enormous menu is all locally-sourced and provides enough variety to knock the socks off of even the pickiest of taste buds. Be sure to order the monkey bread to share with the table.

There is also an unspoken rivalry between two additional (and incredibly delicious) brunch spots in the city: Cafe Hollander versus Cafe Benelux. These European-influenced cafes start to get busy early and continue to maintain a crowd late into the evening. No matter the time of day, be sure to check out their broad offerings of European beers.

Don’t worry – it is always socially acceptable to drink a beer in Milwaukee, day or night.

Hunt Down the Best Bloody Mary

A Bloody Mary in Milwaukee is unbeatable…and trust me, I’ve had many Bloodies. Almost every restaurant or bar in the city offers their take on a Bloody Mary. Don’t be surprised when your Bloody Mary arrives with a beer chaser on the side – it’s a Wisconsin tradition!

Check out this post to discover the Best Bloody Mary in Milwaukee.

In addition to the beer chaser, the garnishes have become prize-worthy here. While a standard Bloody Mary is typically arrives with a stem of celery, Milwaukee ups the ante. Head to Sobelman’s for an absolutely absurd (read: awesome) Bloody Mary experience. You can order a Bloody Mary with an entire rotisserie chicken arriving on top of it. Remember, you can’t enjoy the best breakfast in Milwaukee without a Bloody Mary. Bottoms up!

Italy and classic car lovers unite!! The @coppamil Italy and classic car lovers unite!! The @coppamilanosanremo is an official experience you won’t want to miss.

What started in 1906 as a speed rally from Milan to Sanremo, today has shifted into a precision rally. Attend as either a driver/co-driver or a guest (like me!) and you’ll have a blast. The teams drive through Lombardy, Piedmont, and wrap up in Liguria.

So, if you love the idea of vintage cars winding through scenic Italian landscapes, you may want to look into joining next year’s rally (or at least seeing it it may pass through your town).

How to apply for the permesso di soggiorno in Ital How to apply for the permesso di soggiorno in Italy!!

Moving to Italy sounds great (and it is!) but before you can truly enjoy your new life abroad, you have to take care of some housekeeping. The first up, and one of the most important tasks, is filing for your Permesso di soggiorno (residency permit) so you can be cleared to legally live in Italy.

The process is a pain. Depending on which city you live in likely determines how long processing this will take. For example, I’ve heard horror stories about the wait times in Florence. But Milan, despite being a large city, seems to process these fairly efficient.

It’s your first introduction to Italian bureaucracy and the most important thing is completing this WITHIN 8 DAYS OF YOUR ARRIVAL IN ITALY!

📌Save this guide for your future move to Italy so you don’t miss a single step.

I had a new “first” as an American living in Italy I had a new “first” as an American living in Italy this week (and it was a bit of a culture shock for me) - the condo assembly. 😅

I truly wish I could have had a secret camera in the room. As an American, my understanding is most condo associations elect of a board of directors to make most day-to-day decisions. Of course if there is a bigger decision, the condos vote (usuall 1 vote for household). Well, that process is very different in Italy!

Here, the amount of votes are determined by condo size. And everyone, I mean EVERYONE, seems to have a (loud) opinion on every topic. My imagination of a calm meeting amongst neighbors was quickly replaced by reality.

Anyways, I love living in Italy but these experiences make me laugh at how one thing can differ so much one place to another.

Hidden costs of owning a car in Italy. 🚙🙃 I was s Hidden costs of owning a car in Italy. 🚙🙃

I was soooo thrilled after getting my license in Italy! Then, I was humbled veryyy quick by all of the beauracracy and costs that come along with it.

My biggest shock was perhaps the Area C payments (despite being a resident within Area C) and only receiving a discount for a limited number of entries a year. 🫠 Why…

Do any of these shock you? Or are there any other costs I have still overlooked (keep in mind as a foreigner it’s hard to know sometimes what to pay - like this bollo!).

Save this post if are in the market for buying a car in italy and all of the costs attached to buying a car in iraly. 😵‍💫
