The Best Restaurants in Milan, Italy

The Best Restaurants in Milan, Italy

Now that I’ve been living in Milan for a couple years I’ve been able to round up the best restaurants to dine at around the city. Given Milan is such a melting pot, it isn’t a surprise that list has a mix ranging from seafood to steak to traditional Italian to Asian cuisine. There is no doubt about it – when you come to Milan, you’ll eat well. I hope you enjoy this list of the best restaurants in Milan!

Table of Contents

  • Langosteria
  • Ribot
  • Modus
  • Paper Moon Giardino
  • Beef Bar
  • Ronin
  • Trattoria del Pescatore
  • Rovello18
  • Trattoria Mirta
  • Gloria Osteria

Langosteria

Fish lovers flock to Langosteria, one of the most sought-after restaurants to eat at in Milan. You can opt to eat at their main Milan location or one of their smaller bistrot or cafe locations. You will definitely need to book in advance!

Ribot

One of my personal favorite restaurants on this list is Ribot. If you enjoy high-quality meat in a cozy vibe restaurant, this is a great option. Try their steak or tartare as you eat in the horse-racing theme dining rooms.

Modus

I may be slightly biased as my friend is the head chef at this restaurant, but Modus should absolutely be added on your list of restaurants to eat at in Milan. The pizza is high-quality at a fair price and you can try other goodies from the Cilento region of Italy (which is a stone’s throw away from the luxurious Amalfi Coast).

Paper Moon Giardino

The next best restaurant in Milan is Paper Moon Giardino. The restaurant itself is elegant without feeling stuffy. Enjoy their gorgeous take on the Italian classics.

Beef Bar

Beefbar is located in the luxurious Portrait Milan. Hand-choose your selection of meat from your table! It can’t get more fresh or more personalized than this!

Ronin

There are a variety of dining and entertainment options to book at Ronin. Whether you want omakase, grill your own BBQ, or cocktails in a listening room, Ronin has an option! It should definitely be on your list of restaurants to eat at in Milan, especially if you’re looking for a fun night out.

Trattoria del Pescatore

Another famous fish restaurant in Milan is Trattoria del Pescatore. Don’t let the humble appearance fool you. The fish here is top notch and some of the freshest in Italy! In fact, right in the center of the restaurant you’ll find the fish and other ingredients they plan to use!

Fun fact: many Italians say the best fish in Italy is found in Milan, not along the coast. That’s because they tend to ship their highest quality fish straight to Milan!

Rovello18

Another darling spot to dine in Milan is Rovello 18. They have some of the best pasta dishes in the city and the service is top notch.

Trattoria Mirta

If you are looking to eat well and want the homestyle Italian feel, you should head to Trattoria Mirta. It’s located near the popular Porta Venezia neighborhood and serves up a variety of Northern Italian dishes.

Gloria Osteria

Just walking into Gloria Osteria is a vibe. The cocktails and food live up to the hype and you’ll absolutely enjoy your meal here.

Italy and classic car lovers unite!! The @coppamil Italy and classic car lovers unite!! The @coppamilanosanremo is an official experience you won’t want to miss.

What started in 1906 as a speed rally from Milan to Sanremo, today has shifted into a precision rally. Attend as either a driver/co-driver or a guest (like me!) and you’ll have a blast. The teams drive through Lombardy, Piedmont, and wrap up in Liguria.

So, if you love the idea of vintage cars winding through scenic Italian landscapes, you may want to look into joining next year’s rally (or at least seeing it it may pass through your town).

How to apply for the permesso di soggiorno in Ital How to apply for the permesso di soggiorno in Italy!!

Moving to Italy sounds great (and it is!) but before you can truly enjoy your new life abroad, you have to take care of some housekeeping. The first up, and one of the most important tasks, is filing for your Permesso di soggiorno (residency permit) so you can be cleared to legally live in Italy.

The process is a pain. Depending on which city you live in likely determines how long processing this will take. For example, I’ve heard horror stories about the wait times in Florence. But Milan, despite being a large city, seems to process these fairly efficient.

It’s your first introduction to Italian bureaucracy and the most important thing is completing this WITHIN 8 DAYS OF YOUR ARRIVAL IN ITALY!

📌Save this guide for your future move to Italy so you don’t miss a single step.

I had a new “first” as an American living in Italy I had a new “first” as an American living in Italy this week (and it was a bit of a culture shock for me) - the condo assembly. 😅

I truly wish I could have had a secret camera in the room. As an American, my understanding is most condo associations elect of a board of directors to make most day-to-day decisions. Of course if there is a bigger decision, the condos vote (usuall 1 vote for household). Well, that process is very different in Italy!

Here, the amount of votes are determined by condo size. And everyone, I mean EVERYONE, seems to have a (loud) opinion on every topic. My imagination of a calm meeting amongst neighbors was quickly replaced by reality.

Anyways, I love living in Italy but these experiences make me laugh at how one thing can differ so much one place to another.

Hidden costs of owning a car in Italy. 🚙🙃 I was s Hidden costs of owning a car in Italy. 🚙🙃

I was soooo thrilled after getting my license in Italy! Then, I was humbled veryyy quick by all of the beauracracy and costs that come along with it.

My biggest shock was perhaps the Area C payments (despite being a resident within Area C) and only receiving a discount for a limited number of entries a year. 🫠 Why…

Do any of these shock you? Or are there any other costs I have still overlooked (keep in mind as a foreigner it’s hard to know sometimes what to pay - like this bollo!).

Save this post if are in the market for buying a car in italy and all of the costs attached to buying a car in iraly. 😵‍💫
